Ricky, your ear for music is to be respected! I loved all of the songs on here, especially the conscious sisters. Thanks for making this, and I think you just inspired my next post!
Yessir, thank you family! The Saba joint been on repeat for me as well! I heard of Leufey a couple weeks ago, after reading a NYT article about her aesthetic and had to check out her work immediately. I grew up listening to all kinds of sounds, and I Love that euphoric sense you feel as a listener when a certain artist is being true to their sound.
Ricky, your descriptions were so visceral. I especially felt the ones for Infinity Song and Beabadoobee, they fed my inner angsty teen lol. Your curating chops are spectacular and I look forward to the next MVR!
Wow! I absolutely love this edition! I just subscribed. Iām really feelinā 3 & 10. I laughed so hard about The Marias losing the bet! I respect how eclectic your taste is and this is a great idea for a newsletter. I have a good one for you -
I loved this. I LOVED this! Such a great and lyrical writeup, really sharp connection between aesthetics, sound, and poetics. Plus you put me on to at least two new incredible artists. Thank you so much!
Recently I have been missing the days last year I worked as an indie artist manager. These post brings back those creative thoughts when it comes to music and how to capture the audience through the music and video. I love your break down for each video as well as the way you cultivated a vibe in your post with your collection. If I was to describe how I feel after reading your post with a color it would be orange, because it feels warm yet electric. Great work!
Hey Jacquie! You worked as an indie artist manager? Thatās so dope! I appreciate your perspective a lot. And orange is a good color, cuz I donāt think we really associate it with bad energy. Thank you for sharing that as well š»
Yes I used to host these events call Hood Therapy with my artist and we had a live band playing their songs. It was a Tiny House concert vibe with creative outlet activities. Iām hoping to start them again as apart of my book tour. Your post sparked that creative energy again so Iām excited to dive into your archive over the weekend!!! Orange has been a theme for me this week and a lot of Larry June too lol
